Reduced rate hotel

I have reserved a small block of rooms at the Quality Inn and Suites at a reduced rate. This is for those of you who prefer a hotel to the dorms and will be paying for your room yourself. Mention the conference title, World Society, Planetary Natures, to access the reserved rooms at the reduced rate of $89.95 per night, not including taxes. If you have already reserved a room, you can call to make the switch. The hotel is across from campus and while it is possible to walk to the conference site, the route is not always pedestrian friendly. Thankfully, the hotel has shuttle to transport you back and forth from the conference events. https://www.choicehotels.com/new-york/vestal/quality-inn-hotels/ny413?source=gglocaljn

the program is posted!

At long last, the Full Program is on the website! This is subject to change, small changes. We did out best to honor all the requests based on travel needs. If we missed yours, please send an email to planetarynatures [@] gmail.com and I’ll make the change ASAP.

Panel presentations should be 15 minutes. Bring your PowerPoint Presentations on a flash drive and we will load them to the room computer at the beginning of your session.

If you fill out the travel form, we’ll meet your flight or bus at the LOCAL, Binghamton airport or bus depot. If you don’t let us know when you arrive, we may not be there. Usually, there is no more than one taxi waiting at the airport, so please, let us drive you! Find the form on the website:

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

transportation to the conference

Greeting all presenters!

After much consideration, we have decided to rent a passenger bus / van to provide a shuttle service to the conference. We will pick up presenters on Wednesday, July 8 at either the Binghamton airport, or, the Binghamton bus depot. On Sunday, July 12, we will reverse the service.

Please note:  this is a LOCAL service. We will meet you at the Binghamton airport or the Binghamton bus depot. We will not meet you in NYC or any other town.

Please note:  the shuttle is available only on Wednesday and Sunday. We are unable to provide transportation on any other day.

If you would like to take advantage, please fill out this form before July 1.

Food, food, yummy food!

Roberto Ortiz and I visited Red & White Catering to create the menus for the conference. In addition to using a local caterer, we decided to focus on local cuisine specialties. Our menus provide choices appropriate for omnivore, carnivore, herbivore, and gluten free dietary needs. If you want to reserve a special diet option ahead of time, please send me an email at planetarynatures@gmail.com.

Red & White, located in the neighboring hamlet of Chenango, opened in 1957 as a family owned and operated grocery store. Over the last 58 years they added Giuseppe’s Pizzeria and catering. Now run by the second and third generations of the Klenovic family, all their foods are handmade using their homegrown herbs and locally sourced meats and produce whenever possible. We are most fortunate that summer in the Southern Tier is the ideal moment for outstanding local produce!

Our opening dinner is a sampling of local BBQ favorites, including the Binghamton invention, spiedies (check it out on Wikipedia, there’s even a festival each year!), and classic pulled pork, beef brisket, baked beans, coleslaw and other goodies. As the weather cooperates, we’ll enjoy our meal outside.

Our closing dinner gives a nod to the area’s strong Italian community, most of whom arrived as immigrants during the late 19th and early 20th centuries to labor in the industrial factories making cigars and shoes, primarily. We will enjoy grilled chicken, eggplant parmesan, and lasagna, as well as great sides, and my favorite summer desert.

We have a few extra spaces for each dinner. Family traveling with presenters have right of first refusal for these spots, after that, non-presenting attendees may join us. Please send an email to planetarynatures@gmail.com for details and to reserve a spot.

Non-presenting attendees can sign up to join us for lunch, which will be a choice of sub sandwiches, wraps, and salads along with fruit, side salad, and a sweet. Non-presenting attendees can register here https://planetarynatures.wordpress.com/registration-for-non-presenting-attendees/.

Breakfast for presenters staying in the dorms is continental plus quiche and frittata, along with an assortment of beverages.

Registration for non-presenting attendees is now open!

Registration for non-presenting attendees

Registration for non-presenting attendees is now open! To register to attend the conference without giving a paper, please fill out the registration form here:  http://goo.gl/forms/FQtjVitR94.
(The deadline for presenting papers has passed and new papers are no longer being accepted. Those presenting papers do not need to register here.)
While there is no registration fee, we do ask that you register so that we can have enough space for everyone.
There will be no food for sale at the conference. You can join us for meals by pre-paying for a box lunch. There will be food for purchase at the University food court, close to the conference. Payments are made via paypal.

We’ll pick up the tab for 4 nights

Yup, that’s right folks. We’ve crunched the numbers and have decided that to facilitate the three day conference, we will host you at the Binghamton dormitory from Wed, July 8 through Sat, July 11. We are hosting a closing dinner that night so we want staying for the dinner to be easy for everyone. Check out the website as we’ve added the general schedule.

As always, you can comment on the website or email us at planetarynatures@gmail[dot]com with questions.
